How to side braid my hair?!?

My hair is a little over below my shoulders and I have a little layers and I really want to side braid it and I'm not sure how to make it look good.. My hair is really thick abd wavy tooo! Any suggestionss on hairstyles other than that? And I don't like messy buns or ponytails or headbands and no side pony!! HELP!
